One of the worst films I've ever seen and the worst trilogy ever made

I have no idea how anyone could get obsessed with this let alone millions of people, it was quite pathetic.

Actually, Jackson wanted to make it as two movies but after pitching it to Hollywood, Hollywood suggested three.
Good job Jackson listened to that long sighted asshole!

The first act is dull and laden by a convoluted and overlong prologue that will lose anyone who hasn't read the books. The second and third acts get better though. The second time Frodo gets attacked/hurt with everyone looking on in sappy concern is eye-rolling and redundant. Still, it's easily the best of the trilogy with the two sequels devolving in worth.

I agree, though, I don't get how this trilogy attracted so many people and made so much money. It's one of cinema's greatest mysteries.

Obviously you haven't seen the more recent "The Hobbit" films.

I am not obsessed with it, but it was quite an achievement when they came out. He created a complete narrative that works all the way through three very long films with characters people enjoyed in a fully realized fantasy world that still holds up to viewing today and somehow looks better than the newer Hobbit films. I still have not come across a set of films in this type of fantasy that is superior to this trilogy.

Excalibur 1-3 was superior in every way.

Boy I feel sorry for Gary Busey. Here is a guy who was a pretty good actor and made some bad life choices...got in a bad wreck and his life went downhill from there.

reply

Busey was good in his day 👍

You are, of course, entitled to an opinion. Obviously, you are in the minority here.

The dude is a troll. Just look at his post history.

Fellowship of the Ring is one of the greatest films ever made.

Just about every film happens to be the worst he's ever seen!

reply

No way, The Two Towers was the best of the trilogy.
