[spoiler?] what I'd answer to 1900

you are right: that endless world is scary, for everyone.
that's why, day by day, we build our own ship; an imaginary ship, made of the roads we know, caring friends and family, strangers we greet or simply ignore and a safe place where to live, and every single day we walk in this ship from bow to stern, only once in a while to stop and take a look outside, until we get shivers.
Nobody is asking you to play on God's keyboard, simply because you can't... no one can, and in the very moment you'd put that foot on the ground, you'd realize that it's possible to find the 88 keys you need.

That was beautifully said.

Of course you can play on God's keyboard, we do everyday, whether or not you want to believe it!

Absolute truth is an objective reality that exists independent of what anyone thinks

I always wondered why his friend didn't try harder in the end to get him off the ship. But I guess he figured there was no convincing him. 1900 had already justified it to himself and if love/infatuation couldn't do it his friend probably couldn't do it either.

I disapprove of what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it -Voltaire
