I wondered about this scene, and I like the idea of her finding her "inner-child" or something meaningful. The young girl was just too innocent looking to be real; it had to be a metaphor for something.

I took it more as accepting herself, acknowledging her changes, loss of innocence, and yet also the reaffirmation of her once again owning her own life.
