Isn't it also explained in the second or third last episode of the 4th season... can't remember..
share The "prison scene" at the end is actually covered in Season 3's two parter - War Without End" Part 1 and 2.
Ironically this also covers Valen's origin as well!
But "War without end" doesn’t tell us much about what happened to centauri prime, you have to read the novels to find out. Why that story wasn’t one of the TV movies I will never understand. "Thirdspace" and "A call to arms" was one thing, but why they decided to make "River of souls" I will never understand. Why not instead show us the "legions of fire" story or the Telepath War? Valens story could be great.
