Did they forget?

Seeing as how Sheridan, Franklin and G'Kar ended up going on a mission to covertly meet with the Minbari, how is it that in that when Sheridan (or Franklin for that matter) don't seem to recall G'Kar?

Also: It's nice to see Theodore Bikel (Uncle Yossel/Rabbi Koslov, season 1) and Robin Atkin Downes (Byron, season 5) return in this movie, although in different roles.

It was roughly 12 years earlier and a very brief period when a lot of stuff was going on. Considering the number of people you can meet moving through a period as chaotic as the war, you're bound to forget some people you run into. They likely remember the incident, but forgot specifically that the people they met on B5 were the same as those they met way back when.

Heck, I can barely remember the names and faces of most people I met in high school. That was roughly the same time period ago. If I ran into them again somewhere else, I'd probably think I was meeting them for the first time too.

(Yeah. I know this response is 8 months late, but I figured what the hey.) :)

Don't forget to Humans anyways all Narns 'look alike'...hehe

They fudged the history (canon) to make a story that could reuse the actors/chacters from the series. All in all, a good call IMO.

However, if your adamant that there is a plot reason, then here it is: It was a covert mission which ended badly with both sides believing themselves at fault.

Human militaries now-a-days generally dont allow such missions to be talked about for secrecy/security reasons. It probably applies in the B5 universe too, so Sheridan had every reason to act like he didnt know G'Kar. For G'Kar it was a failed mission *AND* in the previous year (season 1) Earth Alliance personal (Sinclair) had shown little thanks to G'Kar/Narn for their efforts during the war - why should he expect different of Sheridan?

Yes had casting not changed it would have worked better, if you look at Franklin arriving on B5 in the first ep(s) of season 1 it seemed as if he already knew Sinclair. Then again at the conclusion of "points of departure" when asked what everyone thinks of the knew captain he says "I haven't seen that much but he seems OK" given I don't think they had any screen time that ep he could have been referring to the earlier episode.

Hah, well we all look alike to them too probably.

Somewhat plausible. It is a little odd that no one seems to have recognized or remember each other. Haven't watched the movies or the series since the 90's. Good fun overall....

Obviously it was a cheap retcon attempt by Straczynski due to what eventually happened to Michael O'Hare haha. Oh well...movie's still alright.

strasiksi always said you never actually saw Gkar and shreidans first meeting in the second series of B5 or his and franklins

Bear in mind that these events are being related by Londo Mollari around 30 years after they actually took place. That being the case, any apparent continuity errors can be blamed on Londo's inaccurate retelling of said events.

Sorted!

You never see Sheridan and Franklin meet in season 2. The first we see of those two, they've already met on the station. You also never see either meet Gkar during the series. So we see nothing that contradicts ItB.

Actually Sheridan and Franklins interactions in early season two concerning using the healing device on Garibaldi arguably make more sense if there was a little history between the two.
