That's horrible! This was a really good film, I'm very surprised and sorry for all the people involved.

And in my opinion this film is not that bad. It's not great either, but it's an enjoyable flick. I don't understand the low average rating here, to be honest. Maybe people just weren't expecting Eddie Murphy's unusually subtle performance, and were thus disappointed. Who knows... I gave it a 6.

They werent expecting it to bomb during production but after it received bad reviews and bad test audience screenings.They should have cancelled their plans on this movie early on though.
I'm sure glad they didn't 'cancel their plans'.. this is one of my favourite movies. I thought it was funny, and it had a great message, something I really value in a film.
shareone thing I noticed about this, Kelly Preston and even goldblum's acting are really bad, I mean they're both good actors and perhaps it was just the characters they were playing, but it's just that bad. Very Dry lines and it seems like they dont' even care when they're saying their lines.
shareI beg to differ. Both actors played their roles wonderfully. Maybe you need to sit closer to the TV to see their subtle reactions that tell their stories throughout the film?

I disagree.
First of all, "Best Defense" was not an Eddie Murphy vehicle. That one doesn't count against him. It was just bad period. Second, I enjoyed Pluto Nash.
This movie had some power. This movie should have moved you.

This is one of those movies where I could careless what the Box office thinks and I really hate when people base half there decision on a movie based off what Critics have to say because in reality there no better then anybody else. They just get paid to critic the movies. Now with that said I thought this movie was good. I liked the story, the acting, everything about it. Eddie Murphy did a great job but theres always that wonder of what the movie would have been like if John Candy had played the part of G as originally was suppose to happen.

I thoroughlty enjoyed this movie... (Kelly Preston looks fantastic). I'm sure that John Candy would have been funny, however, there is an added dimension with having a black guy play G...Jeff Goldblum's character was scared *beep* initially.

It is a dull, overly long film. Maybe if it had been 24 minutes shorter and there wasn't the stupid televised 'meet me in the lobby' bit at the end it might have been reasonable.
Just another film that shouldn't have been made, had no visible reason to be made and was likely done as someone's vanity project.
$60 million was obscene, what did they waste it on? But from the takings it more than got it back,making quite a profit. More than they should have.
