That's an idiotic thing to say. Movies don't just inspire kids to do school massacres. They would have had to be unhinged to begin with. Kids don't just automatically copy everything they see in the movies.
Billy Loomis, though fictional he may be, summed it up perfectly in a single sentence: "Movies don't make psychos--movies make psychos more creative!"

This was back when major studios regularly put out light R-rated fare. Largely just an indie thing these days.
