The scene in which Laurie talks to her secretary (played by Jamie Lee Curtis’ real-life mom Janet Leigh) outside near the car seems to serve the entire purpose of just dads in the movie theaters whispering to their teenage kids, “that’s Jamie Lee Curtis’s mom in real life. She was in Psycho.”

There's even a change in music to a Psycho-esq theme, so it's quite blatant.

They needed to take it even further and say that her brother in law is Dr. Loomis since the Halloween character is named after Sam Loomis in Psycho.
