Great movie
Am I the only one who likes this movie? I think it's a beautiful study of a relationship between a smart-mouthed new-yawker & a little kid. Very suspenseful and very touching! Am I the only one?

No you are not the the only one who liked this movie. I LOVED this movie! It is one of my favorites, and I just can NOT believe all the negative reviews about it on here!

Sharon stone is very pretty in this movie. Just like in Total Recall.
shareI personally felt that Gloria was a good movie. Sure, it had a crumy start but the movie got better and better as time went along. As a viewer, I began to develop a sympathetic passion for Gloria and her relationship with the little boy. It was clearly obvious that she knew nothing about the principals of child rearing. But, there are a lot fo people in the world who are not aware of them nor do they want to be. Yet at the smae time, these people have a good enough heart that if put in the situation they can at least try. You can only teach with the knowledge that you have. Gloria was only trying to do the right thing, and I commend the character for that very reason. To whomever reads this, you should watch the movie on your own and come up with your own conclusion. In the end, that is all that matters anyway. Peace out!

i thought this movie was very good. i saw it on tv a few monthes ago, and bought it shortly after. i dont understand why it wasnt well recieved, i thought it had a great combination of emotion and suspense.

If you haven't seen the original, you need to watch it ASAP. Once you have seen the original, this watery version will not impress you.
Sharon Stone, WHY? I've never understood it. The list of women in Hollywood more attractive than her (at any age) is a mile long. And the list of better actresses is even longer.

Even if the original didn't exist the 1999 version alone would have been terrible to sit through. There never should have been a remake at all.

Ok jack don't trip now. Love all the Cassavettes combi Gena Rowlands, really do. I don't think I can get their version on DVD here (Holland, Europe). I collect all Sidney Lumets titles. But I understood even the great Lumet can make a mediocre film...

OK! Well, crap is crap, and stone is stone (and death isn't a concept, which doesn't make sense).
I do respect reactions posted by passionate filmlovers (-experts) out of stunned disbelief (like yours). You seem not negative or cynic, but truely put off (= appaled?).
I recently saw and (really) liked Sharon Stone in "The Muse" (1999, Albert Brooks) and I am a great fan of Sidney Lumets movies. That's probably what lead me here on this board.

I think Sharon Stone looks stunning here and to me she is/was one of the sexiest actresses ever. Maybe not a brilliant actress but her `look` makes up for a lot of that.
shareI also thought this was a great movie. Somehow stumbled upon it while waiting for another movie to start and ended up watching it all the way through and i'm so glad I did. I'm very surprised at all of the negative comments and reviews! The relationship between Gloria and Nicky was very well developed and I totally understood and sympathized with them. This movie touched me and I wouldn't mind watching it again.
