I've been looking into Victorian expenses but nowhere can I find info on what a private room for the night would cost. The film mentions Mary Kelly paying a penny but getting kicked out because she let her friends inside.

Looks like 4 pennies to me but old English currency does my head in.
A penny in victorian times isn't the same as now. Decimal currency came in the 70s.
