Johnny Depp's accent!

I obviously have nothing better to do with my time ....... Have just watched this movie and enjoyed it, but, I think Johnny Depp's accent was a bit off - if you know the background of Inspector Frederick Abberline (his character). Inspector Abberline was born and raised in Dorset - lived there for some time and died there. The Dorset accent is completely different to a London/Cockney accent that Mr Depp had adopted for this role. Also, being an Inspector, at that time, and better educated than most (speculation), I would imagine that Inspector Abberline would have had a more 'proper' English accent. Having said that, Mr Depp's cockney accent was pretty good!
