It's strange how forgotten about the Tim Story F4 movies have become

Maybe in part because of the even more notorious 2015 Fantastic Four movie and the fact Chris Evans is much more recognized now for being Captain America (in Marvel's own, more acclaimed movies) than being the Human Torch.

I think from the beginning the movie got a very tepid reception because most agreed Evans and Chiklis were decent but the other two members were very underwhelming and Dr. Doom was horribly bland.

Yes. I like them well enough (I give the extended edition of this one 7/10).

All for a box of chocolates...

The thing is, I don't view them as terrible. They're not good, mind you, but they're passable little rental levels of entertainment. And given how off the mark Fox hit with that new one, it goes to show how much this really did stay true to the source in some ways

Everyone has forgotten about them at this point, you mention them and it's "Oh yeah them".

It doesn't help that there have been a million-and-one Superhero movies released since. These films came just before the boom of the genre and never really were that well regarded. They've been drowned out.

reply

As they should be.

It's a combination of them not being very good even for the era in which they came out, and how the MCU subsequently eclipsed them. They were mediocre at the time, and awful by today's standards.
