Why is this movie so unpopular ?

It's not as bad as the Roger Corman piece of junk or the sequel that came in 2007 (now THAT was bad).

The only real bad thing I found in this film was Doctor Doom being a run-of-the-mill comic book villain when he is so much more than that.

Agreed. Chris Evans really made this movie for me (and Jessica Alba in Spandex™ didn't hurt!).

This forum seems to favor only Chris and hate on the rest of the cast. I don't have the issues they have with the main characters, not outstanding, just serviceable.

One thing I did find odd is this film latched on to a group of really bad extras. It becomes distracting watching extras in the background hamming it up. Extras are supposed to be non-distinct, just movement, generic faces in the background. Watch a few of them, they almost act like the movie is about them. Holding cellphones to their ears constantly overacting a "phone conversation", or not talking at all, just so weird.

When Johnny is being TV interviewed there's one guy right behind him just acting spastic. He's shaking his head aggressively, rocking back and forth, I was trying to figure out what the hell is he doing. He puts a cellphone to his ear that already has a cellular earpiece attached to his ear, so he's listening to his earpiece and the handheld cellphone in the same ear, what an idiot extra.
