Was Alice There?

At the party at the mansion I mean. Per her “nightmare” which she describes to Bill it sounded a lot like she was there. Besides the “Lying naked in the field part” everything else about her dream seems to fit.

Makes one wonder if she could have been “One of the girls”. Maybe she was on something or whacked out & got there & back home somehow. Is this in the realm of possibility or just a coincidence to throw us all off?

Anyone else? Thoughts?

Being that nothing in Kubrick's films appear accidentally, and considering this film was predominantly about an elite secret society, it wouldn't make much sense if Alice had nothing to do with it. Perhaps the 20 minutes that were edited out of the film after Kubrick died would have given the viewer more context with regard to whether or not Alice was present at the mansion. Had Alice not been at the mansion and her romantic fantasies were only in her head, there would be nothing out of the ordinary or special about Nicole Kidman's lead actress role.

I like to think she wasn't only because the timeline is sketchy. IF she was there all night getting banged then how was she in bed when Tom came home.

She should've still been there. I doubt the party ended once the 'sacrifice' was made- it probably extended into the wee hours.

No, it is just another blurry line between dream and reality and makes you ask what is the difference if she cheated on her husband for real or just in her dream. The infidelity exists in each.

This is the correct answer!

Also, sticking to the reality of the movie, SHE wanders about in her dreams but not in real life, HE wanders about in reality but not in his fantasy.
She seems like she had wild fantasies of getting fucked every which way by many different subjects, yet in reality she was very faithful, dedicated to her family and not that adventurous. So no, she would not be at that kinda party in a million years.
