They wanted him vulnerable and terrified. The demons they worship eat terror. Then after he was raped and abused, he would have been killed.
No, they weren't really gonna make him take off his clothes, or rape and kill him, it was all staged. (at least according to Ziegler) The woman Mandy was told to come in at that point and pretend to "sacrifice" her life to "save" his. She wasn't killed she just died of a drug overdose later that night.
The whole thing was staged to scare Bill to keep his mouth shut about what he has saw, after they discovered who he was.

shareApparently, there was more to the secret organization than just orgy parties. Even if we believe Ziegler that ordering him to take off his clothes, then having Mandy come in to save him was a show, Ziegler still implied that there were darker and more dangerous aspects of the group. He warned Bill not to investigate the group any farther because then he really would be in trouble.
