All Seeing Eye

Is the "Eye" in the title a possible reference to the All-Seeing Eye which is associate with secret ("Shut") societies that control everything ("Wide")?

reply

It's about all the other eyes. Wide shut for safety.

reply

Yes, and the previous reply is also correct (eyes representing everyone else's), so it's a double meaning.

The eye is found elsewhere in another well known Kubrick film, but used to a lesser extent: in the movie poster for A Clockwork Orange (the subject on "secret societies" is not even found in the narrative of the original novel; these themes were added later by Kubrick himself for the film adaption.)

This is obvious, old news and has become widely known trivia about the man, even after his death. Some people would try to discredit that notion just to hide that information, which is ironic.

reply

sure thing.
