She threw the golden apple inscribed "For the Fairest" amongst the goddesses that worked just the way she had intended. It started the Trojan War.

And everyone seems to have missed the lesbian relationship strongly implied between Genevieve Bujold and Ashley Judd.

I'll admit there is a bit of MICKEY ONE here, but it is well worth it.

he's not high - eris really is the goddess of discord (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eris_%28mythology%29), and if you read the book you'll see that joanna does, in fact, have a relationship at a couple of points with different women (including genevieve bujold's character).

Everyone "missed it" because they didn't have a Sapphic relationship, but rather a quasi-mother/daughter one with the strong emotional attachment thereof. Interpreting it as Sapphic is possible, but it's an extreme position with not enough support to back it up.
