Best Hackman Movie

Without a doubt, this is my favorite Gene Hackman movie, as well as one of my favorites by Tony Scott and Will Smith. Above all, Hackman looks completely different from nearly every other movie he has done. His performence is the same way. I see a different actor in this film and I like it! Its' great to see actors break their usual molds and this movie will never leave my collection. Way to go, Gene!

agreed.
Crimson Tide was brilliant too, however unsure which one is better, love them both.

I love him in pretty much everything. But my absolute favorite is the Poseidon Adventure.

Makes me wish he hadn't retired from acting.

Will Smith dominates the screen time, but you couldn't imagine "Enemy of the State without Gene Hackman.

It completes an apt set of bookends, when paired up with "The Conversation".

Crimson Tide. Hackman gives a stunning performance that always gives me chills!

Gene Hackman always brings class to a movie. My personal favourite Hackman film is The French Connection, but my favourite Hackman performance is the 'cold turkey' section of 'The French Connection 2'.

I miss Gene Hackman in movies. 'Welcome to Mooseport' was a dire swan song.

I agree, I miss seeing Hackman in movies, I loved his performances in Crimson Tide & Enemy of the State, some of his best. His roles in The Poseidon Adventure and the French Connection films were very memorable though.

Enemy of the State was the last good movie he did. He was long overdue for retirement.

A late reply but I still miss him. I liked him in Unforgiven.

I wouldn't say it's Hackman's best but he sure is great in it. I've always loved most of his stuff. He does make the movie a lot better since he's in it. I'm disappointed he retired from acting over 10 years ago. I thought he still had a few great movies in him.
