was jack black in cahoots with gene hackmqn,

he recorded the conversation about the murder, and he was nice to gene hackman when he offered him food.

Yes, I was slightly confused by his character. I think he was a pure tech geek, who did complicated work that he enjoyed, but as the plot developed began to feel uncomfortable with the impact and repercussions of his work. I think he recognised the moral backbone and courage of Gene Hackman's character, who as similarly skilled.

I think you summed it up well.

But being in cahoots ....a very long way from that!

I think Jack Black's character was actually a nice guy but he was definitely uncomfortable as the film went on, especially when the situation escalates near the end.

When JB realized that all hell was about to break loose and he would be linked to not only the death of a congressman (because he knew) but the illegal ops that he was assisting with. Yea he was a nice guy, but he was also covering his own *** incase the situation went sideways.

What this guy says.??? That was my first thought the first time I watched this flick.

Maybe he started recording because things seemed to be getting out of hand. But no, he was definitely not in cahoots with Hackman.
