Do any of you think Serendipity is a feminazi ?

Well, one would think so after listening to her comments about God and the church.

What does anyone think?

Well it would be hard to point out a flaw in her "reasoning" considering she wasn't really reasoning at all lol

No, but the language of your post indicates that you hate women. Does that make you a "chauvinazi" or a "masculinazi"? ... Or just one of the many insecure, messed-up woman-hating sexists of this world?

I've never understood people like you, or the Andrea Dworkins and Janice Raymonds of this world - don't you extremist hate-mongers realise that life is really short, and time wasted on spreading hate can't be gotten back?

the character was kind of a feminist bitch

I have no idea why you feel so strongly against her character as to call her a "bitch" - that's rather extreme, in my opinion.

I don't think she did anything to justify being called a "feminazi" or a "bitch" - she did refer to God as female, but God appeared in female form (Alannis Morrissette) when she confronted the angels, so for all we know, the Alannis Morrisette form is God's favourite form, or perhaps that's how she appears to the angels? Certainly, she had appeared to Serendipity as a woman in the past.

She might have jive-talked (slightly!) at some point as well, but the male characters were doing that too (such as the men insisting that God is a man), so it appears you're unreasonably judging her for doing the same thing as the male characters, which probably indicates some significant sexism on your part.

I agree with Violet Loves Iliona. If the gentlemen above think Serendipity is a bitch, I don't think they have ever met a real bitch. I myself am a real bitch and work with real bitches. As a matter of fact - I think my boss has a sign in his office that says "Bitches Get Things Done."

How is that even possible when she's not really a female?

No, she isn't. Having boobs doesn't make one female. She has no genitals, thus she's not female. Are you saying that Azrael is female too? He was a muse if you recall. How can a person without gender be considered male or female?

Similarly, Metatron\Loki\Bartleby aren't really a male even though they're being played by a male. Angels are genderless, and a muse is a special class of angel(within the context of this movie).

^^^ What he/she said^^^

They are gender neutral.

Also to the original poster and to others that think she is a feminazi. Please prove what she complained about is wrong, please pick up your little bibles and tell us that it does not say a women is the cause of original sin and that a women did not ask for the head of the baptist. You cant because she is actually saying what is written.

So no she is not a feminist or being a jerk, she is telling the truth about your book, and she is a muse, hence a angel and not a female.

reply

Yeah but she was played by Salma Hayek. There are few things in the world that are more womanly than Hayek and I can't even think of one right now.

reply

Irrelevant. The fact that she's played by a female doesn't mean the character is female. Azrael isn't male anymore than Serendipity is female. They're both completely lacing as far as genitalia is concerned, as such they are neither male nor female.

Boobs and an ass does not make one female. Reproductive organs decide gender.

My answer was meant to be frivolous in case that went over your head.

reply

I think you meant to say "facetious." Unless you are saying you meant your post to be pointless.

Prof. Farnsworth: Oh. A lesson in not changing history from Mr. I'm-My-Own-Grandpa!

reply

No, I meant frivolous as in "light-hearted and raunchy". At least that's the meaning of it in my language, german (="frivol"), which shares the same roots as english.

Serendipity is an angel not a female- they don't have a gender in this movie.

Also her comments about the bible were true, it was written by male monks (only people who could write) at a time when women and lots of other groups were seen as second-class citizens so they were painted in a bad light.

Besides it's a funny movie don't take it so seriously :)
