The 'God is infallible' bit... *SPOILERS*

Okay... The basic premise is that if God is proven fallible, existence goes kaplooey... Right? But doesn't the fact that Azrael took God out of the picture (albeit temporarily) with his 'ingenious' scheme already prove God fallible?

Don't get me wrong - I know it's just a movie, calling for suspension of disbelief... And Dogma is one of my favorite movies. But this is something to think about.

So if all of existence was undone, does this mean God would have wiped out too?

reply

No.

Yes, since the idea of the biblical deity was created by man, when the existence of man ceases, so too would the idea of the biblical deity cease.

reply

Is this supposed to be an off-topic rant about atheism?

If it is such a rant, it is off-topic because regardless of your (or my) personal beliefs about the existence of G-d, in the world of this film, she exists as an being outside the minds of human beings, and not as a belief of man, as you appear to be stating.

Take care,

Well, it is simple, but it isn't logical - if I say something to you and you don't write it down, then it doesn't follow that I never said it.

Oh geez you seem a little slow. going to point this out that your Israelite warlord god was invented by moronic Israelite warlords. Can't handle facts? Who gives a crap?

reply

I take it you are one of the stupid, annoying people who come onto websites like this to randomly insult people from the annonymity of your internet connection.

I'm not slow, and I don't have an Iraelite warlord god. You also come across as an antisemite.

Oh geez. Elohim was invented by Abraham who was an Israelite warlord. Furthermore that is not antisemitism. Merely stating the fact that an Israelite invented a warlord god doesn't = antisemitism.

reply

Do you go the Lord of the Rings boards to point out that hobbits aren't real, and then get indignant and condescending when you get called out for being off-topic?

It's a fantasy movie, dude. I don't believe in God either, but I still enjoy the movie and look at it from the internal fantasy logic it employs.

If that's what you think, you clearly don't know what fallible means.

Prof. Farnsworth: Oh. A lesson in not changing history from Mr. I'm-My-Own-Grandpa!

reply

Why don't you enlighten me, then, oh wise one?

Might be God's will, but it's my willy.

reply

Fallible: liable to err, especially in being deceived or mistaken.

God isn't mistaken about anything or being deceived.

Besides, for all we know, God was perfectly aware of the plan and purposely allowed herself to be put into a coma as part of her grand design.

Exactly! :)

I thought it clear that God was aware of how the events would play out. I figure that's why Bethany could never get pregnant, until after she fulfilled her role as the Last Scion during the events of the movie.
