Bartleby not recognizing Bethany.

If Bartleby is a Watcher and knows all this info about everyone, including all the dark secrets of the Mooby executives, why did he not know Bethany was the last scion and recognize her on the train?

reply

That's a good point actually, considering when he has her and is about to slit her throat at the end he talks about her ex husband and his new wife, so he obviously knows information about her

reply

Maybe it's because she didn't even know at that point in the film. Maybe his "powers" are restricted to what he can see and what the person knows.

That's what I always figured. He does mention that her ex is happy with his new wife, but for all we know he's saying that to hurt her. Or for all we know he doesn't "read" people unless necessary, like identifying people's sins. He probably doesn't read through the life of every person he talks to, as that would be exhausting and useless.

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

Because they 'used' to be watchers. They were banished to earth long before she was born.

Case in point, Loki had to ask the guy on the bus if it was his wife's face he was chewing.

Course, that's only my opinion, and doesn't explain how they knew so much about the Mooby guys though. Unless they found out by asking someone like Azrael for info before they went in. Who knows.

Also, they spoke on the train. She was drunk, and basically gave away the whole plan, as well as explaining, to an extent. Her whole issue with her ex, and being unable to have a baby.

reply

Only Bartleby was a Watcher and he still knew all about other people. However maybe he has limits.

or maybe it's just another plot hole in this god forsaken movie

My understanding is that they did some research on the Mooby guys before they went to the boardroom.

I honestly thought it was because Bartlby was only able to see people's sins, not everything about their lives.

Even in the boardroom, he goes through each member and seems a bit stumped when he tells the woman she's innocent.

reply

Maybe since she's a descendant of Christ, she was "off-limits" power wise

That awkward moment when you think someone's signature is apart of the post.
