The Only Thing That Bugged Me

I tried searching the internet thoroughly to see if anyone mentioned this before. For the most part, I overlook the gaping plot holes in this movie because I love the movie. The only thing that ever bugged me though is when Jay suggests having the rededication shut down, why didn't Metatron go with them?

Even if he didn't originally go, when the cardinal tells them that only God could shut it down, Metatron could not only show that he is an angel, but being the voice of God, even if God were not missing, it would still be Metatron that would visit the cardinal. So regardless, Metatron could convince the cardinal as the voice of God.

I know the short answer is that it would have taken away from the plot. A longer answer would be because it was Bethany's job, byt being as the world was only saved by one second, that shouldn't have an issue. But in the 100 times I have watched Dogma, that always annoys me.

God knows why.

The problem was created by humans so it should be solved by humans. How else can we evolve and grow?

reply

We couldn't evolve and grow at all if the world is blinked out of existence.

no its the religious thing nothing can be seen to happen it all has to be hidden (like theres no god) its like the old days when god use to pop down to the deli and some goats milk and everyone knew what cloud it lived on

There was nothing in the movie that indicated that God had to be hidden from people. In fact, the movie makes the exact opposite point.

He says "Metatron acts as the voice of God. Any documented occasion when some yahoo claims God has spoken to them, they're speaking to me." So obviously Metratron has and does reveal himself to regular people.

He, in fact, reveals himself to Bethany, Jay and Silent Bob. While one can make the argument he can reveal himself to Bethany because she is the last Scion, but Jay and Bob weren't really prophets, they were just people.

So Metratron revealing himself to the Cardinal wouldn't be a big deal and it would save the world.

I was talking about todays excuse for no god as compared to 2000 years ago when it was running around being seen all the time being beaten by iron chariots etc

Sure, whatever. Now back the actual conversation.
