Where does it take place?

When Travis Cole motions to the map as he talks about the building at 99 Franklin Street, the city he is gesturing to is clearly a sprawling metropolis with a large body of water to the north. It looks exactly like Cleveland (no other large US cities with a northern coastline, right?). Can anyone verify this? Or maybe it is a map of LA turned on its end?

Yeah, I noticed that too. The map looked just like the Cleveland/Northeast Ohio area. But the scenery in the movie looks nothing like Cleveland.

I think you are right about the map, as for the location, the movie was filmed in the suburbs of Toronto, Ontario.

I just watched it again yesterday and noticed the cars all had Ohio license plates on them.

This movie has one of the ultimate late 90s city depictions. It just brings back memories, for some reason. It has a very nostalgic 90s look. Simple, bright colors.
