Norm's utterly enormous shirts

I know there was a lot of baggy plaid going around in the 90's, but even by those standards I'm amazed at how freakishly huge Norm's shirts are in this movie. In scene after scene he's wearing yet another massive, billowing button-down that's about six sizes too big and looks like he's slung clown pants over his shoulders or something. They're short sleeves that practically reach his wrists, for god's sake.

I'm amazed someone on the set didn't suggest reeling in those gargantuan plaid kimonos at least one or two sizes.

Just saw it for the first time in many years. Yes his shirts were huge but maybe it was some way of contrasting Lange 's super tight fat guy shirts. What a hilarious movie.

I always figured he was raiding Sam's closet since his ex threw away all of his clothes at the beginning of the movie, thus explaining why his shirts were comically oversized.

I think it is his style, I have seen him in a couple movies wearing this kind of shirts

A lot of comedians wear slightly goofy clothes. It's part of their act, like a clown. I think Norm knew he didn't look too sharp wearing those.

I always imagined Norm and Artie switching clothes right before shooting.
