Meaning of the slanderous term 'gander' in the movie

When Kate is referred to as that "gander" bitch, is it "gander" as in "silly (goose) or inane?" Or is it some other derogatory meaning of the term? The only reference to "gander" in Irish slang I can find is to "take a look" at something.
