What is the music at the start?

What is the music at the start of this film, where the hero is driving? I've listened to extracts from the Danny Elfmann soundtrack, but it isn't there. It sounds like some kind of a blues track.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Hi,

The beat and the simple riff are timeless four note blues riffs that every guitar player learns in week 1. Everything else is improvised, including the lyrics.

Yes. But by whom?

It sounded to me like it might have been Jeff Healy, who also appeared in Road House. But that is just a swinging wildass guess. I'll post back if I discover anything.

It's a song called "Hard Work Driving Man" by a group called Beasts of Bourbon

Thank you so much!

Now the only problem I have is that it seems to be unobtainable - no-one seems to have an mp3 available. I discovered it was a single in 1988, and on an album called "Sour Mash".

I've heard elsewhere that the song at the beginning is in fact "hard working man" by Captain Beefheart.
I checked out the lyrics to hard work drivin man by these beasts of bourbon, and the words are different from those in the film.

I just doublechecked my facts and the song during the opening titles is definately "hard workin' man" by the great Captain Beefheart. It's on "The dust blows forward" (CD).
some trivia: the 1978 movie "blue collar" (with Richard Pryor) uses the exact same song in its opening titles.
The Cramps covered the song, but they're not as good as the captain.
The driving thumping sound you hear is an actual steel press.

Yes, it's Beefheart. The credits for soundtrack are given at the end of a film.
