Are They Clay?

I was just wondering because I just don't get it. Is all of the characters clay because thats what they look like.

Are U talking to me!!!!

reply

Hence the name clay-mation,dude.

reply

From the "trivia" section:

The characters' bodies were made of silicone with latex covering, while the heads and hands (or wings) were plasticene. All the chicken characters have collars and ruffles to hide the disparity between the modeling clay heads and wings and the latex-covered bodies.

This movie was definitely made in the Claymation process which was also used in the recent Oscar winner WALLACE AND GROMIT: THE CURSE OF THE WARE RABBIT.

I hate claymaiton films, they're always so stupid, all but NBC and Corpse Bride. Those two are the best!

You don't even like Burton's "Vincent"?

NBC and Corpse Bride are NOT claymation. Are they made of clay? No! Its stop motion, different thing.

What's the situation?
Two blokes and a fu*ck-load of cutlery!

reply

Dude, they are made of clay and it is stop-motion. That's why they call it "claymation".

reply

You are an idiot! The people in Corpse Bride and NBC are NOT made of clay! Therefore they are NOT claymation films, they are just stop motion!!! They are made from metal armatures with other materials to make the outer layers. Chicken Run is a clamation film because most of the stuff is made from clay. Claymation is stopmotion, its just a term meaning stopmotion and clay combined. Jeez

One toke? You poor fool! Wait till you see those goddamn bats.

reply

well clayMAtion films hate you too. ...maybe you should watch the quay brothers short films. your also calling rudolf the rednosed reindeer studid too.

oh yeah, i guess oscar winning wallace and gromit is stuid...

reply

no james and the giant peach? oh wait thats stupid.

reply

Go to the website and it talks about how the body is made from a different material but the actual heads are made from clay, The reason why all the chickens wear scarfs or whatnot is to hide the point where the head connects to the body.

reply

The material used is called "Aardman Mix", a special blend of plasticine which in turn is a modelling material containing calcium salts, petroleum jelly and aliphatic acids.
Chicken Run is shot with stop-motion animation technique - the film makers actually altered the puppets for each frame.

I usually dislike stop-motion animation, but Aardman usually does it in a way that makes it really look good.
