How could the film makers have NOT noticed-

As children, they chose little girls with unnaturally bright, light colored eyes. I couldn't tell the color, kind of a blue/green I think. As adults Alex has a grey/blue color and her sister has brown eyes. That is a huge mistake that many movies make, although I've never seen it so blatantly obvious as in this film. Did anyone else notice this?
