When this came out fans of the Universal's and Hammer films consider this to be a CGI laden silly film. Now it's all of a sudden a golden age style film. No..lol. Tim Burton's Batman was considered a dark film when it came out. In fact the comics at the time changed to reflect that movie. So it didn't start with Batman begins.
“The Dark Knight Returns” was a 1986 Frank Miller Batman Comic series that turned the comic book world upside down with it’s dark, brooding seriousness.
And NO...Burton’s SHIT films did not cause that fucking change in Batman comics...seeing as they were released in edit:1989, mmmkay?
Batman most certainly took stuff from Burton's Films.(I am.well aware of Frank Miller's dark Knight) The city itself eventually was turned into Burtons. There was a while issue where building were being destroyed in Gotham to reveal building that had older architecture. It was stupid but that is how the explained the city looking like burtons. That's just one example. Oh and Burton's Batman was out in 1989 you brainless twat...
Batman has gone from dark to goofy to dark etc. The early 70's brought back a darker Batman. Go back and read some old issues if you don't believe me. Frank Miller's did not start the idea for a Dark Batman...
Sorry nerdface the Button Film is what started the dark hero films you are complaining about today. Which was my original point.....the comics have gone back and forth.

I think whether or not you received The Mummy well depends on what you were wanting from it.
Were you looking for a HORROR film or an ADVENTURE film?
As a horror film, it fails. But as an adventure film it succeeds spectacularly.
When I think of the greatest adventure movies of all time, The Mummy is certainly near the top of the list. In fact, I probably have it at #2, right behind Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
It's a hell of a lot of fun and provides exactly the kind of escapist entertainment that made me fall in love with movies in the first place.

I love them all.Classic Universal, Hammer and the Fraser films. The Tom Crusie one though kinda sucked and it put an end to Universals Dark Universe....
I don't think the Cruise film was nearly as good as the Fraser offering, but I enjoyed it fairly well and thought it was better than a lot of people gave it credit for.
Kind of a weird movie since it had the task of trying to jump start the Dark Universe in addition to telling its own story, but I liked it overall.
