What was the make of the Family Car??

It looked OLD-even Then-LOL.

Was it an old Volvo or a Saab??

And as for Diane Lane not getting an Oscar for this-it's an Indy Film-she got a Spirit Award for it.

She is Sooo AMAZING!!

It was a 1959 Studebaker Lark. It makes sense that a family limited funds like the Kantrowitz's would have a 10 year old car. It was rare for a car to last that long in those days, so it was a great scene where Marty is working on the car.

THANK U. An (admittedly Indie) Great Diane Lane Movie, and it took THIS long for someone to respond.

I'm from the Detroit area, and the Old Packard Plant is standing Rotting for Sixty Years!

In "The Wonder Years" THAT Dad kept cars for Decades, too.

I just recently watched this movie on Netflix what a hidden gem. I enjoyed that it was a working class family. Marty sure put some miles on that old car that summer.

What made that movie Great (other than showing the Lunar Landing, and, at the same time, the Turbulence of that Era) was that it showed the Chaos caused by a Teen Pregnancy. The Mother was trapped into family life at Eighteen. And the Father, who could maybe have been a Great Jewish Scientist or MD (showin' my Ethnic Bent here) was a Poor Television repairman (them old TUBE TVs had a LOT of Issues! In the Solid State/Integrated Circuit era, I only had ONE bad issue-with a New Sharp TV that was probably dropped in the warehouse. The WIZ in NYC Stonewalled me, and their "Bouncers" ejected me from the store when I got Mad. I got the money back from Sharp by filing in Small Claims Court.)

"Walk on the Moon" is the Greatest Argument for "Row V Wade"
