Marty & Pearl in the backseat of the Studebaker

Pearl stops her affair with Walker after a confrontation with Lillian. Marty and Pearl have a date the next weekend and they get frisky in the backseat of their car until Pearl cries softly and stops responding to Marty’s advances.

When I first saw this scene I thought Pearl couldn’t get intimate with Marty because of her guilt about her affair. The second time I viewed this scene I wondered if Pearl shut Marty down because she no longer felt aroused by Marty after having fantasy sex with Walker.
