As if Marty wasn't an ideal enough husband, the fact that he has the grace to look the hippie his wife is having an affair with in the eye and tell him thank you for helping his son almost made me cry. I was wondering why Diane Lane wasn't on her knees begging him for forgiveness after that scene, especially how he managed to act so sweet and casual for the kids' sake.
