Who greenlighted this trainwreck?

I finally rented it on Blu-Ray because hey, Avery Brooks is in it.

It's....... a frickin' B MOVIE!

Know that if you're looking to give it a shot. Go into it thinking, high-budget B movie - gotcha.

So, having just watched it, how does a movie like this even get made?! I mean it's entertaining to an extent on one level, and stupifying on another. As far as making the actual film, it looks like it would be a blast.

How do millions of movies that shouldnt be made get made? Movies that are supposed to be Oscar contenders. Because a large number of "B movies" are better than many "A movies" So give me a break.

I listened to the screenwriter's commentary. It was worth it for the comedy of it. They set out to make "a hip-hop hong kong action comedy".

Basically the guy said after the script was sold it was tweaked and changed around a lot, and the production teams kind of ran away with the movie.

I dig it on another level now.

Yeah, the Big Hit is pure cheese, but I love it. Much more entertaining than Carnahan's equally ridiculous Smoking Aces crapfest for which they've apparently greenlighted a sequel.

If you're watching 'Fullscreen' DVDs, you aren't getting the whole picture.

This movie had a small budget, and it was quite impressive with its special effects...I really liked it...

I didn't like the movie and thought it was rubbish, but agree that it had really good production values.

Would have thought it cost a lot more than $13 million to make.

Agree with the OP that it's a train wreck... but a train wreck that ended up getting its money back and then some more.

Guess I have to give Hit a shot... Side note, I did like Smokin' Aces and second one Smokin' Aces: The Big Gun (title alone!). Didn't see last one with a 2 attached to title.
Cheese is hard to pull off but this cast fun bunch so what the heck. For free only.

Fairly stylish action comedy but probably best as a date movie or buddy flick. Does try to work some polished edges. Don't know if they are taking off on The Transporter at one point but does seem to look like that. Such tricks help. Applegate hot. 7/10 for fans.
7.50/10 if a party on.

I love it. Easily the best action parody ever made. It's hilarious, too. Lou Diamond Phillips' character Cisco is probably my all-time favorite cheesy over-the-top action villain.

Most of the gags work without fail, but my favorite is "Lance's special crystal".

It sounds like you let expectations ruin your movie experiences. Research movies more thoroughly and you may enjoy them more, which is important considering how much time they take. YOLO

I enjoyed the film when I first saw it years ago and still do. Just a stylish cheesy action comedy. It doesn't try to be more than what it is and it works. B movie fun with good production value as has been pointed out. It looks and feels like it cost more than it did.
