53 to produce and 27 to promote. Regardless the movie shouldn't have cost more than 10 to make. There wasnt any special effects or CGI to rack up costs. My guess is that 10 million alone went to Toni Morrison to buy the film rights
shareI doubt very seriously Toni even got ONE million. That was unheard of, even by today's standards. I remember Halle Berry reportedly paid the author of, "Nappily Ever After," 2 million to adapt the book into a film and everyone was saying how crazy she was, and authors do not even get 1 million. It does not happen very often, unless they get a producing credit.
