It's been a long time since I watched this movie, loved it but for the life of me I can't remember did Sophia give Luca up or was he taken from her and if she did give him up for adoption why?? Thanks in advance for any replies I get!!!

She didn't want to give him up but with due to either pressure or thinking she was obligated to sign the papers, she did. However, she signed the papers with the intent of coming back to get him. That is why she went to the family in hopes that they would get the child back.
shareNo, when Sophia called the convent, they nun informed Sophia that since they hadn't heard from her in three months, they had given the child up for adoption, as per their policy. Sophia didn't think she was giving up the child...it was accidental...still, you would think she would've called within the three month period..
