Why so much hate for this movie??

Jesus Christ, it's a movie primarily aimed at a preschool-kindergarten demographic. Did you really expect this to be some kind of moving, inspiring work of art?? And even though its not, it doesn't make it a bad movie. It's a movie that is a prime example of a KIDDIE MOVIE. Maybe a theatrical release wasn't the best idea for this type of production, but this wasn't meant to please adults.

I'm a 20 year old man, who first saw this in theaters when I was 5 years old back in '98. At that age, I thought it was the best thing ever (This and The Rugrats Movie) but as an adult, I see it for what it is: A Kids Movie. It irks me to no end when adults trash kids movies. They aren't meant for us.

I too remember seeing this in theaters as a pre-schooler. I saw it many times actually (like at least 3). One of those times my younger brother didn't want to leave because he thought Barney was going to come out of the exits or something, and the "summer job" movie attendant (late teens probably) had to tell him "Barney left for today."

It's Barney what do you expect?!?!

If Dora the explorer had a similar movie, I bet it would get just as much hate as this one.

I never saw it in theatres but I watched it on VHS with my younger cousin when I was a kid.
