I agree that there should have been more on the Bruno and Paul story line. I felt that the Bruno character had so much more to offer than what was shown on screen. Jonathan Rhys Meyers plays Bruno with so much pain and vulnerability that I just wanted to take him in like a strayed puppy and cuddle him. Bruno obviously was a lost soul looking for the stability of family and home. That's why he loved Beatrice so much as she was like a big sister to him. Paul's character could've been the father figure, however, Bruno seems to constantly have to compromise himself sexually just to feel wanted and loved by an older male father figure. This explains why he erupts with such anger when he is being thrown out of the "family unit". His frustrations of never finding love is what makes him so volatile.
