The asteroid after it passed the earth

the chance of it hitting another planet is so small it might as well be considered impossible. the movie said it was the size of texas... so approximately 1000 km. the distance between earth and its nearest planet, venus, is 40 to 250 million kms, depending on where they are in their orbits. its like throwing a drop of water off the tip of mount everest and trying to hit a street light in kathmandu.
