Old Man Directing Them At Top of Crew

When they get to the top of the tower for the launch pads, an old chubby man directs each crew to the left or right. After he tells them which way to go it looks like he breaks the fourth wall and looks directly at the camera. What's up with that? Im thinking he may be significant with NASA in real life maybe? Not an actor? Anybody else notice this?
