Did anyone else think this movie was a bit pervy?

I know it doesnt seem like much, but when Z tells the princess he was going to let her become part of his most erotic fantasies, it seemed to me like it should have been rated more than PG.

reply

hav u also noticd the bit when the buff ant is asleep and z is ontop of him sayin 'weaver, weeeaver' it doesnt sound too innocent!

reply

oh yeah! ha ha, that was a bit rude.

reply

i also think that the battle scene had a sexual tension hanging over it which i thought was unappropriate, bridget i also agree that the film should have been atleast a 15.

reply

Little kids shouldn't watch this? Are you kidding, I'm sure little kids love this. Yes I know it's just a tad violent but kids wont go crazy from watching slight violence or sexual references. Kids don't even understand sexual tension in movies. I mean I watched Species when I was around 7 years old and it had a pretty damn grafic sex scene, I just didn't understand what I was seeing, and I didn't even care.

reply

I suppose you are probably right, I only noticed the ruder parts because of my age, I guess little kids wouldn't understand - but today's kids are more capable than we'd think, so our comments may apply to some but not others.
Thanks for your opinion.

And what is Species?

Species is a movie about an alien played by Natasha Henstridge (think that's the way to spell her name) anyways she breaks out of government experiment labs when she was going to be gassed to death, anyhow she tries to addapt to her new environment and kills whoever gets in her way and she tries to find a human male to mate with, she got what she wanted from Alfred Molina, then she killed him (atleast he died happy I suppose??) and the sex scene was really really grafic. We get to see breasts, butt, Natasha riding on him... nowadays I love those shots ;)
Thought the CGI in the movie is laughable when you see tentacles crawling all over the place. But the movie is worth a watch, it even has Michael Madsen. Good fun sci-fi movie.

reply

Sounds...interesting! Might give it a look, but being a teenage girl, I think I shall perhaps not enjoy the sex scenes as much as you!!!

reply

Ahhh species. Come on, surely you girls enjoy the rumpy bumpy scenes a little bit? Whats all the drooling over useless actors like Orlando Bloom about? Species even has CSI's Marg Helgenberger in it as well. That film is classic classic trash. Think it has spawned two sequels since, maybe more.

As for Antz, I agree with the poster who said I think we only pick up on the innuendo in this film because of our age. It will be glossed over by kids I'm sure.

reply

It would depend entirely on who was involved in the "rumpy bumpy" scenes - if Orlando Bloom is there then I'm all up for it!!

You really wonder why sex scenes arent the same for girls as guys? because its not realistic, sure its realistic from the male point of view. But sex to most guys is penis in vagina, thats it, and thats all you ever see in movies. I dont blame women for not being turned on, then again i dont watch movies to be turned on anyways, personally i think the two should be seperate. 99% of nude and sex scenes in movies have been exploitative, pointless, and ego boost for the director or a way to make more money or spice up a s\hitty movie, its just put me off of sex in movies unless its actually tastefully done. Its not like you need to graphically get closeups of people f\ucking to prove that they are just "so in love" with each other. And ya a 7 year old kid doesnt really understand sex, the scene would just go over their heads and theyd probably just remember the parts with explosions or fighting etc.

reply

this is so old...why were you searching the Antz forums so intently?

Sit down, before you break another ribcage.

reply

...are you talking to me or someone else? Because i posted one post on this forum, which had nothing to do with the movie. So not sure where youre going with this

Do you really think something like that is going to affect kids that much? It amazes me the things they censor on American Tv (and some occasional Canadian channels). Who really cares if there are a few sexual references to keep the parents of kids watching the movie entertained. Also if you look in the Triva page it says that it was originally "erotic sexual fantasies" but thae sexual was cut to keep the pg13 rating.

reply

And your saying this is worse than Chicken Little? The duck said some pretty odd stuff to Little in that movie, plus the fecking pig was a homosexual, Disney do this in movies to make not only kids have the laughs but also the parents. Like who wants to take their kid to see a pile of freaking happy ants? So instead make them hypochondriac ants that drink bug ass for alcohol, like one hell of a party.

He's right, it was rated PG.

I think ALL kids monvies are pervy.
Have you seen Toy Story?
CHRIST! Smell the Brokeback Mountain-ness of it all.

reply

lol

but seriously, who cares about this slight sexual references? Kids arent going to read into it. Honestly you lot are taking this way too seriously. Professional film censors have approved it for the rating it has. Stop living in the past anyway. This film is old.

reply

My child is a little over 2 years of age and she adores this movie. Ever since I got it from my parents' house a week or two ago, it has replaced Finding Nemo, Wallace and Gromit and Howl's Moving Castle as the to-go movie in her rotation.

I don't really find anything remarkably dangerous to her sensibilities, although my wife raised an eyebrow when she mimiced the word "crap" from the other bugs eating it at Insectopia.

Its a good, short film that adults can enjoy with their children. If Woody Allen the stepdaughter child molester could make a family film, this would be it. Solid 7/10.

reply

The only offensive language I ran into was when Z was complaining to Weaver at the bar and Weaver replies, "Quite your bitching". I was like what! My daughter was there, but I figure if she can listen to James Blunt "Your Beautiful" without saying *beep* high" then Antz is ok. :)

Think about it this way;

Anyone that knows the word 'erotic', is sure to know a lot about sexuality already. Hearing one word is not going to do any kind of damage to them. It's 'business as usual' as far as they are concerned, possibly worth a little giggle at best.

Anyone that doesn't know the word 'erotic', is not going to be affected by it at all.

Ergo, no one will be hurt by the word.

reply

I thought I was the only one! I was like...is movie is rated PG, I must be overreacting. Between the curse words and the sexual remarks, I think this should have been PG-13

whats wrong with toy story?

reply

I was eight when I first saw this (I'm seventeen now), and I snickered at the bad words I could catch, which were only damn, hell, and crap. When Weaver says "bitching" I just didn't understand what he said because I didn't know the word at the time. I thought "erotic fantasies" just meant really tame stuff like hugging, kissing, etc. I could sense that this was much more adult than the stuff I usually watched; Disney movies don't have lines with words I recognized to be swears, but everything sexual just went right over my head.

Kids love this movie. I was about 9 when I saw it so I didn't quite pick up on the dirty jokes as much.

i know. i was only in 1st or 2nd grade when i saw this and now i'm watching it again in my 10th grade history class and when i heard those words and the "erotic fantasy" line, i was surprised that i didn't notice this when i was little. i guess younger audiences are so into the movie that they don't notice the inappropriate parts. and i guess you don't realize it till you're older and watch it again.

reply

I was about 9 years old when I first watched it. I remember I clearly reacted to the sentence "erotic fantasy". I thought it was a very dirty word to use in a film aimed at children:)
At that age I thought animated was something for children alone.

Now I like the line. It's still a unusual line to hear in a animated film!

Newsflash: It wasn't made for little kids. Not all animated films are for children.
"Antz" was primarily made for a more mature audience who would get the jokes and the theme it contains.

The "pervy" part is what makes it good and stands out from most other animated films.
