Influenced by the movie "Class of 1999" (1990)? (spoiler)

I know it's a B Movie, but hear me out guys.

- The central character in the movie "Class of 1999", Cody Culp, emerges from prison with resolute intentions of rehabilitate himself from a life of criminality, even if it necessitates confronting his former gang associates—mirroring the trajectory of the protagonist in "American History X".

- Culp, much like Derek in American History X , is confronted with the revelation that his own brother has succumbed to gang life, he tries to get him out of this world with partially success.

- In one pivotal scene, Cody's younger brother grapples with emotional turmoil, about the transformation that has rendered his elder sibling a "different person", who openly expresses disdain for the lifestyle of their former gang associates—an evocative echo of a similar scene in "American History X".

- Subsequently, in both films, the younger brothers undergo a transformation of their own, growing more compassionate and gaining a deeper understanding of their elder siblings.

- Tragically and unexpectedly, in both movies, a short time later, they both meet their untimely demise. In "American History X", Danny falls victim to a gang member within the confines of his school. Meanwhile, in "Class of 1999," Cody's younger brother is allegedly murdered at school by gang members, only for later revelations to unveil the shocking truth—that one of the teachers committed the crime.

- In both stories, the elder brother arrives at the scene of the tragedy belatedly, cradling his younger sibling in his arms during their final moments.

- For those inclined to delve even deeper, it's worth noting that, according to one theory, the death of his brother drives Derek in "American History X" to revert to a life of crime in order to avenge his sibling's untimely death—a thematic parallel shared by the protagonist in "Class of 1999".

I will also add that the storyline of both films conveys the message that violence does not yield positive outcomes and ultimately results in more death.
