Apollo 12 Nudity

I gotta ask did this really happen? I don't recall it being in the book, and I can't imagine it'd be something they'd invent for the series.

Perhaps there is a requirement for anything done for HBO to contain nudity and foul language, not only does Ep. 7 feature nudity but it includes the only instance of the F word in the series.

Why not? Those guys are men, they're are military, they're astronauts. Getting naked in front of each other is not an issue, they're used to it. Besides, the LEM and the CM were too small for wardrobes.

reply

Yes, it did. Apparently Dick Gordon complained about all the moon dust the guys brought back, so as a joke Conrad and Bean returned to the command module "in the altogether." And Conrad was known for his "colorful language."

Yeah, one of the funniest dialogues in the series, I dont know why it's not on the quotes section. It's something like this:

Dick: Jesus, did you have to bring back half of the moon with you? Hm, Hm you ain't gonna mess my nice clean spaceship! You struck down and wipe yourselves off before you're coming in here. I meant he, go.

Pete: He's right, you filthy.

Then both Pete and Alan floats naked into the CSM.

Dick: Welcome home fellas! Can I get you anything to drink, water, any beverage at all? Hoho Benooo! Be careful to not flip any breakers with anything hanging out.

Then they're straped naked on their seats, something is said about the spaceship procedures before the LEM jettison and Pete says...

Pete: You know, if uh... if we lose the hatch when we blow the LEM and one day someone has to find us floating around up like this uh... I would be pretty confused. Well, at least we're going out of this world the same way we came out.

Dick: Well you two.

Pete: You dont come into the world in that suit?

Dick: Oh man, I hope not.

Unfortunately it's not 100% accurate because english is not my native language, maybe I misunderstood a word or two. But great quotes.

This is a great transcription - close enough, thank you.

From one of the earlier Apollo flights, the advice about using the toilet facilities to following crews was to 'take and hour, strip right off and use plenty of kleenex.' I'm pretty sure it just wasn't just the 12 crew that got naked.

So, what's your point? Would you prefer a sanitized, non-real world version?

Many of them where navy men. Most of them have crossed swords....
