The Astronaut Wives Club

I realise this show is probably more geared to women, but as a female and a space enthusiast I was glad to see it come to screen.

The men were the heroes clearly, but those women had to hold it all together.

I was glad Hanks gave them their own episode in this series too.

I couldn't tell whether to serve red meat or fish with this WHINE. My God, what pathetic drivel. 😨💨😷

Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded. Yogi Berra

Speaking as a male engineer and someone who's been a space enthusiast for over forty years, why don't you just STFU. I would hope you were raised by someone who taught you "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" - this is a good time to remember that lesson.

I welcome anyone who is interested in engineering and space, and the more open minds we have working on big things, the better off we'll all be in the long run.

I think the scene where Jan Armstrong has to wait for Pat White's return... their actions and reactions make the episode for me... Pat's quiet acceptance of Ed's fate is palpable.

I was glad the episode is there, too.
and on edit: Mike Collins delivering the message to Martha Chaffee is almost exactly as he related in his great(est) autobiography. Tough. Very tough.

If you haven't already, read the book, The Astronaut Wive's Club, which gives a lot of great firsthand impressions of the era. What's sad is that it hammers home how few astronaut marriages stood the test of time. I believe only the Apollo 8 crew were all still married to their wives of the era of the program.

Fortunately, Ah keep mah feathers numbered for just such an emergency!

I really enjoyed the perspective this episode offered. It really rounded out a very good series. My only complaint is that they did not use this episode for Apollo 13 instead of the out-of-place fictional commentary on the press.

I enjoyed the sequences on the Bormans and especially the Lovells. It's good to see that two of the marriages were strong enough to withstand all the stress. Two of my favorite actresses too- Rita Wilson and Elizabeth Perkins.
