If there were a remake, whom would you cast?

I usually never get engaged in a question such as this, but I couldn't resist now that Tom Hardy has become a star. I was wondering if he could have a place if someone were to do a new adaptation of this Thomas Hardy tale.

I would cast him as Giles, and would be tempted to put Hailee Steinfeld as Grace and Michael Fassbender as Fitzpiers. There's quite a bit of age difference between Fassbender and Steinfeld, and, for that matter, between her and Hardy, although I think Hardy looks young. Not young enough? And Hailee is American. But there seem to be a lot of "transatlantic" accents in British movies these days. Seeing a big budget production with ... what might not be in the book ... Grace being taken under Mrs. Charmond's wing for a while, some sex, not sure if between Grace and Giles but possibly Fitzpiers and Mrs. Charmond, etc. I'm not big on sex if not necessary, but if this were a big, bright production, that might fit in as part of all the sparkle. Then of course you have the brooding backdrop and tragedy in between.

Whom would you cast?
