Djinn Strategy

If the Djinn's ultimate goal is to take over the earth and cause eternal suffering, wouldn't he just pick a person and grant two NICE wishes so that the person gladly and unsuspectingly wishes a third time?

It is kind of self defeating to screw the wisher over all the time.

He can only take over the world by getting 3 wishes out of the person that released him. I think he wanted to grant her nice wishes at first when he tried to bait her into it by impersonating Wendy. Alex found him out so his only chance was to scare or force her into wishing.

I have to agree with the OP. If I wish for $1M, the brutal murder of my aunt who had a life insurance policy for $1M in my name is less likely to get me to make more wishes than just putting $1M in my bank account.

I agree on one count. But in literature I have read about the djinn, they are in 2 classes: evil and good. I think the fact that the djinn here twisted the first 2 wishes is to underscore that he is evil.
He doesn't just want to grant wishes or even just bring his compadres to the Earth. He wants to torment the wishers, and people in general.

It's pretty much "The Scorpion and The Frog" story. Expecting the scorpion not to sting.
