Worst movie ever

Perhaps I am being to broad, but I thought this movie was one of the worst films I've ever seen. After seeing the incredible and amazingly, "Run Lola Run", I was moved to search out more of the director's films. I guess you win some and you lose some because this movie was a snoozejob.

ok... this was by far not the worst movie ever. I can see where you could say run, lola, run was a stronger film. In many ways it was. I can definatly see where you could say the princess and the warrior, or heaven we're better films... because, for one- he has had time to develope his style and craft, and two- they just plain were better realized ideas. But winter sleepers is by far not the worst film I've ever seen. I enjoyed it for what it was- an interesting, well told, well directed film. I can admit that some of the acting was kind of bland, and some of the characters where kind of generalized and one dementional, but then again, there were other characters I really enjoyed. Rene, for example, is a really interesting character, one who could fit in comfortable in a jeunet film. I really liked how the plot moved, and the connections between the characters.
But I suppose that is one man's opinion. And while I'm stating opinions... I have to say that going overboard is the worst film I've ever seen

Uh...I disagree. This movie was artsy, poetic, beautifully shot, hymnotic and well written and performed. Not as good as Lola Rennt but pretty awesome in my book. 9/10.

"Run Lola Run" was movie-making genius. An overlong MTV video? Hardly not. Maybe you just didn't get it, or if you did, wasn't your cup of tea. "Winter Sleepers" is a fine film for different reasons. Tykwer is destined to be Germany's Scorcese or Spielberg. Finally, since Fritz Lang or Fassbinder, a film-maker Germany can be proud of, and there are others coming up, like Hamburg's Fatih Akim. Tom is influencing a whole new generation of European (and maybe even American) directors. He is brilliant!

Best since Fassbinder?! What about Wim Wenders - his latest movies maybe not that good, but did some great films in the past.

And, 5 years after your post, he is not that good or influencial anymore. He does deserve to get his 'mojo' - or something like that - back. He is a fine filmmaker, but seems to have chosen the wrong projects.

I thought it was better that Lola which, though enjoyable, was a bit slick. Wintersleepers' pace deliberately matches the story (slow and unfolding as if we are all coming out of hibernation). The plot is hermetic but it has the same beauty as, say The Sweet Hereafter by Atom Egoyan (though the latter has a more bittersweet pathos). Sleepers also has a killer soundrack that it is impossible to get hold of.

that means you have not see hiroshima mon amour

Actually, in my opinoin, "Heaven" was Tykwer's weakest link. Though Wintersleepers was slow, and even boring at times, I still thought it was good and had a fantastic ending.

Heaven, though was shot well, seemes as if 50 minutes of that hour and a helf movie was a dramatic pause, and it got laughable at occasions. That and it was lacking a score from Tykwer, Heil and Klimet. Actually, I though Wintersleepers was their best score.

Loved them both, for different reasons.

Run, Lola Run was a very good film, which I liked. But to me it wasn't more than enjoyable to watch and with a cool plot and filming.

Winter Sleepers, though, is to me plain impressive. It's poetic, and the photos are chilling. Just perfect for the area they live in. Of course it doesn't work as a proper thriller, but I don't consider it a thriller either. To me it's a film about relations. How different kind of people act in given situations. And Tykwer has done a beautiful job on this. Just thinking of it gives me goosebumps.

"Worst movie ever"? Gosh, there are too many crappy Hollywood films at the front of the line, waaay ahead of this one, for it to come anywhere near claiming that honor.

Having already seen several of Tykwer's other films and become a fan, I expected to be disappointed by this one only because it's an early film of his, but I was surprised to find myself liking it. Tykwer has an odd take on the world . . . and I enjoy it. There are certain stylistic themes that run consistently throughout his films. The only thing that surprised me was that this one ended on such a dark note. His other films (or, at least, the ones I've seen) are more optimistic.
