What does the title mean?

I can't figure out what 'winter sleepers' might mean, but after watching the film, I couldn't get the Elvis Costello song, ACCIDENTS WILL HAPPEN, out of my head.

"Free to those that can afford it, very expensive to those that can't."

Literally, it means Hibernator.

For the movie, I think it refers to the fact that Winter covers up the car; the girl "sleeps" through winter; everyone bundles up in the small town.
