Anyone else biased when watching this movie?

I am such a huge fan of HBC that I couldn't stand Millie once I got the gist of what was going to happen. Was anyone else like that? Or maybe the opposite; you really like Alison Elliott a lot and disliked HBC throughout?

Haha although you make a good point I still love HBC too much to care about Millie!!

You do realise that there is a difference between being an actor and being a character? As much as I sympathised with Kate's predicament, and there is a lot to sympathise with, and even though HBC is one of my favourite actresses, what she does to Millie is wrong, no two ways about it.

BTW, I have to say that HBC was excellent in this. Oscar winning performance, IMO. Mind you, I also have to say that Alison Elliott was great, too. She should have got an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress (although I think that Julianne Moore should have won for her role in Boogie Nights).

I'm surprised you disliked Millie. One of the best things about the adaptation was that it manages to make BOTH Millie and Kate very sympathetic. HBC's performance as Kate is so good that although what she is doing is immoral you still sympathise with her and Alison Elliott manages to make a character who could be cloying and saccharine in less capable hands likeable and real. HBC definitely deserved her Oscar nomination and I agree with the previous poster that Elliott really should have received significant awards attention for her portrayal of Millie Theale too.
