The ABC appears to have NO marketing material (as in "at all") for Wildside. Does anyone know of any way to obtain copies of Wildside eps, other than recording them off-air oneself? (It's just started to repeat, on the ABC at 11:05pm each Monday! But DAMMIT I missed the very first ep!)
I think it is because despite this series being excellent, it also happened to be quite controversial in terms of funding models (Aunty funded it straight up instead of 50-50 which is the usual practice), and the ABC ended up losing a fair bit of money on the series. The DVD has been released with minimal advertising support (I only stumbled on it in the ABC shop, no ads on ABC1 at least)
Yeah....but the boy I'm besotted with (Marty Denniss) shows up in Episode 37 and I can still only find episodes 1-3 for sale in cyber space 3 years after this thread first started....*sighs*....so they really need to get a move on with releasing more, although someone (I can't remember if it's ABC off the top of my head) does finally seem to have pulled their finger out in this regard for the series Water Rats.
This is not a good sign - I just checked the ABC Shop online and it's not even coming up in their search results any more. Possibly indicates that it didn't sell well and was deleted? In which case, no chance at all for any more eps to be released on DVD
This is so annoying. I loved this programme when I stayed in Sydney for a few months (i'm english). It's by far the best cop/crime show i have ever watched, and one of the most honest.
GAAAAGH! It's so annoying that they think 3 episodes is enough to sate my appetite.
As someone already said, the show is 60 episodes, so how is 3 going to be good value?
I'd download it but because it's so niche it's not available on torrents...
Actually it's just started as repeats again on ABC here in Aus - real early Friday mornings (like half past midnight on Thursday) - so if you know anyone over here you might be able to twist their arm to record it for ya...
Hello again Wildside fans... TEN YEARS after my original post!
It's now FINALLY available as a total series (all 60 eps) in three DVD box sets, each set containing 5 DVDs, from ABC Shop online. Each set is normally $19.99, but today only (18th Nov. 2014) they are only $14.99 each :-)
